After playing in various college bands while attending Indiana University in the mid-nineties, Matt moved to Los Angeles to further pursue music. He began focusing on a career as a solo artist, crafting his songs and playing in historic rock venues throughout the city such as the Roxy, the Joint, and the Gig.
He then landed a demo for one of his songs (“International Love Machine”) in the feature film “Longshot”, starring Paul Sorvino and Britney Spears. Matt’s tune kicked off the opening scene of the movie, as one of the characters watches music videos while waiting to meet up with his friends.
Once his home studio was completed, Matt then started work on what would ultimately become “Sonic Love.” He enlisted the blazing guitar work of close friend Chris Moseman (of the bands Freefall Rescue and Push Me), as well as the thunderous combination of Rich Lackowski and Cale Reese on drums and bass. The result is a powerful mix of meaningful songwriting and pure escapism.
After playing a number of shows in support of the "Sonic Love" EP and with Jon Ronda replacing Reese on bass, Matt went back to the studio, this time intent of crafting his first full-length record. He began writing songs for the album that would become "Roar". Building on the glam-rock roots of "Sonic Love", the new CD features a more aggressive and rockier sounding side of Matt.
"I've always wanted to write and record the kind of music that would give you goosebumps if you put it on the jukebox," says Matt. "And the kind you can't get out of your head afterwards." Inspired by artists as wide-ranging as Def Leppard, Matthew Sweet, Swirl 360, Echo Jet, Robbie Williams, and T.Rex, Matt's music reflects exactly what he set out to do, create feel-good music with meaningful lyrics to blast out of your speakers all day long.
In October 2007, "Where I Wanna Be" was selected by Fireworks Magazine UK to be featured on their companion music CD. The single for the track "Roar" was also featured on "The Next Big Thing" podcast later that year.
Matt has been touring extensively in support of the album, playing shows at the Air Conditioned Supper Club in Venice, CA and the Elbo Room in Chicago. The band also recently performed in Boston, MA for the charity Stop the Bleeding which raised funding to help fight domestic violence.
In 2011 Matt released a brand new single for "Under Blue Skies", mixed by Kenny Scott of Swirl 360 and Echo Jet. The song is now available on iTunes worldwide.
