Michelle Weeks (Singer, Songwriter, Producer, Dancer, Actress) Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Michelle Weeks began captivating audiences at the tender age of 4. At 5 years of age, Michelle won the prestigious Herman Stevens Award. A graduate of the famed LaGuardia School of Music & Art, Michelle went on to perform on Broadway – debuting in the musical, “The Tap Dance Kid.” She also played starring roles in “Madhattan” (where she received rave reviews from stars like Ben Vereen, Debbie Allen & James Ingram); and the major motion picture, “Little Shop of Horrors” (alongside Tisha Campbell & Tichina Arnold).
Since the early nineties, Michelle Weeks has been a staple in the Dance Music community. Her powerhouse vocals have been showcased on numerous releases, including the classics “The Light” and “Be Thankful.” Michelle has worked alongside producers such as Tony Moran, Jamie Lewis, The Basement Boys, Andrea Paci, Dj Spen, Danism and Jason Chance, to name a few. She has also collaborated with other dance music greats, like Barbara Tucker, Byron Stingily and many others.
Michelle has appeared on some of the world’s biggest Dance music record labels, including Strictly Rhythm, Ministry of Sound, Purple Music, Stealth, Kingstreet, Defected, MN2S & Jellybean Recordings.
In addition to Dance music, Michelle Weeks has performed (both live and studio) background vocals for Mariah Carey, Taylor Dayne, Trey Lorenz, Tramaine Hawkins and many others. She has also provided jingles for major companies, such as Kellogg’s, Fidelity & Kentucky Fried Chicken.
Currently, Michelle has releases with: Jamie Lewis (Step Up) and Andrew Hartley (My Deliverer), as well as the summer jam “Be Real” with Juan Kidd and DJ Jorj which have all been featured in top positions on numerous charts,
How did "the light" change your life?
It was the first Spiritual song that I did and I'm glad I did. It brought me a whole new fan base and has been and important part of my life in so many ways.
After so many years do you still like to perform "the light" live?
Yes It's one of my favorite songs to perform live.
What can you tell us about your hometown Detroit?
Detroit is not my home town. I'm a native New Yorker. I moved here 3 years ago after a medical issue, to be with my best Friend (who passed away shortly after I moved here) and my Fiance'.
What music are you listening to at home?
I have musically eclectic taste. I listen to everything from Jazz to classical, Gospel to World music and everything in between. I love all forms of music as long as its pleasing to my inner being.
What producer would you like to work with?
Honestly that's a very hard question for me to answer but I would love to work with Quincey Jones just from my love of his older productions.
What artist (dead or alive) would you like to perform a duet with?
Chaka Khan, Patti Labelle, Jason Kay from Jamiroquai, Luther Vandross, Jocelyn Brown, Martha Wash, Lenny Kravitz and quite a few other talented people I would love to sing with.
Why do you think PURPLE MUSIC is different to other labels?
They are more in touch with the artists.
Where do you get inspired for writing your songs?
If I hear a choral melody. Then the words come after that. But that changes sometimes.
It all depends on either my mood or where the track takes me.

When did u start singing?
According to my mom, 18 months old. Lol...I actually started singing in public at the age of 5.
What are the next projects coming up?
I'm in the process of working on my EP and hopefully soon after my first album. I'm releasing My daughters first project on my label Majestic Noize and I'm also involved in a project with long time friend Michelle Shellers. We are known as the Steam Dollz.
