We have an undying love for sharing new original music in traditional string-band formation, serving it hot off the griddle across the West Coast. From the foggy nooks, golden hills, and giant skies of Central California, NPSB brings you original compositions and timeless tales through music.
Informed by a wide-range of influences, our music is an ongoing narrative of the places we go, the people we meet, and the history that came before us. It is a musical journey into the expansive and undying potential of acoustic music and old-time storytelling. With a nod to the legacy of traditional music and a tip of the hat to those that came before, our vision is to keep the fire high for original acoustic music on the West Coast.
Whether it's recording an album in a historic Grange Hall (sweet wood tones...), playing spontaneous roadside concerts at scenic overlooks in Big Sur (hope to see you there), or coming through your local venue, we love bringing our music to you in person and sharing it online!
Here are some reviews from our latest album Steak and Eggs...
Steak and Eggs “… is a diverse mix of various tempos and moods… It’s the perfect background music for a cookout or morning pick-me-up. The songs tackle the ramblin’, surfin’, and banjo pickin’ lifestyle of the NPSB” (Maria Grusauskas, Santa Cruz Patch).
“Even though I’ve seen these guys play live tons of times, this album blew me out of the water. The sound is so clean and everyone is so on instrumentally it’s hard to believe that this was recorded live. I’m looking forward to getting my own copy (and a copy for everyone I know who is remotely interested in bluegrass or country)” (Tori Zdeb, Santa Cruz Waves).
