As unlikely as it is for an electronic music artist to spring forth from the depths of Arkansas, it can happen. In fact, Oscillating Rift (otherwise known as Sean C. Cook), is just such an artist. Raised on Eighties MTV, more specifically 120 Minutes, Mr. Cook decided that he wanted to play synths like many of his music video heroes. Many years later (and numerous bands later), Mr. Cook had an epiphany based on critiques friends and family had told him for years. Friends and family always said that his vocal music was good, but his instrumental arrangements were far superior. Thus, Oscillating Rift was born in 2013 with his first self-titled Ep.
Proving that an Arkansas music artist does not have to be country, metal or a cover band, Oscillating Rift blends melodic synthesis over powerful, often danceable beats. What emerges are powerful and inspired electronic songscapes that would be the perfect soundtrack to the movie playing out inside your head. This is Multiply & Divide.
Oscillating Rift’s Multiply & Divide is a more vibrant and daring album compared to the self-titled Oscillating Rift Ep of 2013, which was more dirge and doom. Both albums were created with a handful of keyboard synths and the Nintendo Korg DS10 and the Korg M01 programs. Although Oscillating Rift will not tour in support of Multiply & Divide, he is planning a web series featuring an intimate live performance of songs from both albums.
Oscillating Rift can be streamed from most of the major services, such as iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, Rdio, Google Play, and more.
