Paris Saint Germain's Status is Straight!
There is no denying that Paris Saint Germain have a knack for making European footballers blush. They aren't the only ones, though. The aforementioned Real Madrid side aren't exactly a walk in the park. And while the club's disciplinary record isn't too shabby, their form isn't exactly sparkling. That's not to say they won't improve, but it's hard to expect them to do so in the near future.
PSG's Contention Despite Recent Struggles
A lot has been said about the club's inability to win a Champions League title. That's not to mention the team's woes in the Ligue 1 where they haven't won a game in over a month. Despite their form, the team remains in the hunt for a place in the UEFA Champions League playoffs. Not to be outdone, the French squad has been on the receiving end of the aforementioned title in a number of games. While it's still early in the season, the team has already endured two hammerings, including a 4-2 defeat at home to Barcelona and a 2-1 loss to Bayern Munich. It's easy to see why the aforementioned trophy has become an afterthought for most of the squad. However, the club still has a chance of qualifying for the knockout rounds, especially with the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar expected to return from injury. Nevertheless, the team's performance in the Champions League round of 16 is a bummer.
Mbappe's Impact on PSG and Team's Chemistry Challenge
As mentioned, the most successful player is arguably Mbappe, though the club's biggest star hasn't exactly set the world on fire. Nonetheless, Mbappe's signature ability to play on the counter has made him a valuable addition to the PSG squad. Likewise, the team's chemistry has been an issue, with a number of players being prone to a tumultuous period in which they have to work out their differences. Combined with the club's ebb and flow in the European competitions, the dreaded "Monday after Monday" has become a real possibility for the defending champions.
