Lawrence Vereen a/k/a “Maserati Black” and younger brother Theodore Vereen a/k/a “Str8 Drop”, comprise the immensely talented, Washington, D.C. native, rap duo The Rock Mob who has been creating rhymes since they were children. One need only look, listen, or merely observe the dynamic duo in action to know it's been decades since either hip-hop or the rest of the music business has witnessed a group with the level of showmanship and shear God-given ability that The Rock Mob possesses. The Rock Mob is always looking for ways to reclaim what the rap game was. This tenacious duo with their brillant infusion of high energy dance songs coupled with edgy real life street depictions of urban decay are the first rate qualities that have developed into phenomenal artists with a massive body of work, one so inventive and cunning that will deem them worth considering.
Blessed with a style that’s so incredibly original, is the calling card for the two extremely gifted musicians whose talent for making timeless classics that challenges the mind and soothes the soul, have them positioned to become the new standard for hip-hop excellence. Veterans on the tour circuit, Rock Mob has to date performed a staggering 375 shows in the U. S. and abroad, sharing the stage with numerous platinum recording artists to include but not limited to, the Big Tymers, Field Mob, Juvenile, Rocko, Cee-Lo, and Pretty Ricky.
While Washington, DC is the birthplace of the Rock Mob, their presence can be equally felt in Atlanta, Georgia where the tandem currently resides. Unlike many MCs who only work their home region, to the contrary, the Rock Mob has built a loyal following that stretches from “chocolate city” to the peach state’s capitol. Underground legends, thanks largely in part to their 2006 hit “Hot Cars” that featured recording superstar Jim Jones. Along with releasing four street certified classic mix tapes, “From Rocks To Riches", “The Plug”, “How Its Suppose To Be”, and “Bubble Up”, are the A-1 credentials that enabled the Rock Mob to become the first rap group to be officially endorsed by the 100,000 member strong International Disc Jockey Trade Association. Setting the stage for the group’s latest musical offering entitled. How it Supposed to Be, Bubble Up and, (The Flood), hosted by the South's #1 DJ Scream of Mayback Music Group, and their latest, the ground breaking Making Say Nun featuring top recording artist Future + Rocko. They will be dropping three mix tapes back to back leading up to the Scream mix tape: the first debut will be presented by Hoodrich’s, Swamp Izzo, to get the streets ready for this PLATINUM ready phenomena; Second to hit the streets will be presented by the INFAMOUS Dirty boys, ET Cali; and third but not least the greatly anticipated DJ Scream hit CD. serving as a pre-cursor to their highly anticipated full-length debut album “The Takeover”, scheduled for release in 2013 on Round Table/SlaughterHouse Records, which proudly features cutting-edge production from producers extraordinaire, C-Note, TraBeats, J-Malice, and last but definitely not least Str8 Drop himself. Proving when it comes to making and performing great music, no one and I mean no one…..rocks harder than the mob.
