Born Emmanuel Andrews Samini, Samini is a singer, songwriter, performer and
recording Artiste. He stands as one the most consistent and most outstanding Ghanaian musicians to have graced the scene in the past two decades since his breakout in 1999. He terms his brand of music as is a mixture of African melodies, dancehall, reggae, hip-hop and native Ghanaian highlife music. From 1999 -2007, he was known as Batman (an acronym for Best of All Time Man). The year 2007 saw a rebirth of his brand and a new stage name “Samini” through a release of a self-titled album. He did that to place more emphasis on his pride as a Native from Wa in the Upper West Region in the northern part of Ghana where he has been enskinned as a chief with the title of “Pilibii Naa”. Samini was first signed to Ashanti International in Ghana and later signed with Lexifri Productions before he started his own record label – Samini Music. He later launched a fan base called HighGrade Family which he has kept till date. Samini recently signed a management deal with Africa 1 Media as an addition to their roster of super-star talents. With 7 Studio Albums to his credit, The Capricorn star keeps selling Ghanaian music to the world emmensely and has shared the world stage with the likes of Shaggy, Jay Z, Akon, Kranium, Culture, Kelly Rowland, Rocky Dawuni, Beenie Man, Sean Paul, Elephant Man, Wizkid, Morgan Heritage (To mention a few), travelling almost every part of the world with his music and culture over the years. Samini broke onto the world music stage when he became the first “Best African Act” winner at the prestigious MOBO Awards in 2006. His popularity on the world music stage grew even bigger when he won “Artiste of the Year” and a couple more awards at the Ghana Music Awards in 2007. The award winning streak continues till date including more wins at the VGMA’s, MAMA’s, IRAWMA, Headies, etc. His latest Album “Untamed” was voted Album of the Year 2018 at Europe’s most authoritative Reggaeville Awards, Samini became the first Artist from Africa to win it. The Album also debuted at Number 8 on the World Billboard Charts. The strongest point of Samini’s career has been his longevity as a brand and his sterling outputs as a performer, a spot he shares with none of his contemporaries even though he is considered a complete musician by many that consider him as a national music asset and a living legend even at his young age.

The legendary dancehall talent, Samini, brought the roof literally crashing down with a performance that got both President Akufo-Addo, the First lady and others dignitaries singing along with him. He just had a connection with all patrons present at the Grand Ball.
The BHIM Concert could not have ended without the presence of music legend Samini who performed alongside the man of the night Stonebwoy.
It was a ‘father and son’ moment as the two artistes lyrically recounted the tough times they went through to get to their present state in their music career.
Stonebwoy showed gratitude to Samini for the help and encouragement referring to him as ‘My Own’ – a single by Samini.
Students of University of Ghana Business School couldn’t get enough of Samini’s lectures over the weekend; his lecture under the topic “Celebrity Brand Endorsement” supposed to run for an hour crept into 2 hours 15 minutes. The students wouldn’t let him go and requested for another lecture session with him on a next date (to be scheduled).
Elated Samini says he would be available to run a next lecture anytime they’re ready. Under the main topic, Samini touched on sub-topics like;
– What makes a Celebrity?
– Endorsement deals
– Optimizing celebrity endorsements, among others.

“I personally like to stay neutral because when you endorse a political party you endorse the party’s manifesto and become more or less like a mouthpiece of that political party and if the party promises something and fails to do then you are found wanting, but I will only endorse a political party when I’m very sure and convinced of what that party can offer Ghanaians. I will do so when I feel I want to take on a political role or want to embark on a political career”.

The album, ‘Untamed’ has 22 songs on it, with all being reggae songs.
According to him, he derived inspirations for the album through “been through the mud, through the sun and the rain, one thing i know is, no pain no gain so watch out for this 7th Album titled untamed.” he said.
Samini said, he decided to go all out with reggae song because he is who he is now because of reggae.

Samini’s latest album, ‘UNTAMED’ has made it’s way to Billboard’s charts and is currently enjoying the 8th spot in the Top 10 Billboard Reggae Albums. Samini’s UNTAMED is his 7th album with 22 songs on it which was released last year December.
