Who is Samuel Dyer?
Samuel Dyer was born into a Christian family of musicians and at the young age of 5 along with his brother Eustace started singing and formed a group known as the “Dyer Brothers”. At 13 he won his first talent competition after having performed at church and school concerts. Although he wasn’t fond of competing he won a scholarship in music, which afforded him the opportunity to major in the piano. In 1995, he gained more exposure to performing live, as he traveled various Caribbean islands as part of ‘The Dyer Brothers’.
Later in his teens, Samuel turned away from the Christian faith he grew up in; though he attended church. This lead him to join a R&B group with former schoolmates and after three years of singing in nightclubs and parties, Samuel started his solo career. He caught the attention of local recording company formerly called Jamm Records, who signed him as an artiste. He worked with them for 3 years developing his skills in an attempt to get a record deal with a major label. During this time Samuel experienced major changes in his personal life. Samuel had a spiritual encounter with the Lord which led him back to his christian foundation and as a result his passion for gospel music he stopped doing secular music.
His current management at Jamm Records accommodated his changed life and style of music and Samuel soon began working on his first Gospel album under the same label. Two years later, the 17-track album which he co-produced was finally released in 2004 entitled ‘Spirit Arise’. His final release with V.O.G. Records was a Christmas album called ‘Joy: Samuel Dyer and Friends’.
