Shemida J is a Performing & Recording singer/songwriter on the rise. From Florida by way of Freeport, Bahamas this petite song bird has always displayed an unwavering love and passion for the art beginning at the age of 5". At the age of 13, Shemida held the mic and realized that not only was she gifted but this was her calling. Shemida started performing on stage in church, community events,and also sang the national anthem at the MLK parade in Florida.
With musical influences ranging from groups like Destiny’s Child to artists such as Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu, and India Arie, her diversity and knack for adaptation should come as no surprise. At the age of 19, Shemida recorded her 1st studio track. Unprepared for this industry, Shemida took sometime off to educate herself and preparation for Motherhood.
Shemida J has a strong passion for business, the youth, and the community. Her passion is to be an inspiration and empower others to live their dreams. Shemida's lives to give hope of making something out of nothing, the joy after the struggle, and believes in changing the world by sharing her gift. Shemida has participated annually in the American teach program as well As volunteered to read to the children and serve as a mentor for some. She started her own organization, SirPass Events which contributed to her constant efforts on putting positive events within the community and entertainment industry. One of the biggest events organized by Shemida's organization is putting on a toy drive to help serve families in need during the holiday seasons.
Creatively finding her own inspiration from life's day to day occurrences, the most important of which being the joy of motherhood, Shemida J croons with the soul of the everyday woman. With a voice that once heard is simply undeniable and presence that illuminates the room, Shemida J possesses a talent which is phenomenal indeed. Shemida released her single " You Just Mad" in 2013 and is currently working on her debut project.

Past experiences that have shaped your goals: Honestly I feel like every individual experience has shaped me and lead me to being the person that I am today with the goals that I have placed on myself. Being exposed to music at a young age, my father always being a self-employed and entrepreneurial minded person, my time in School and in Corporate America, Relationships, my successes and failures.
Greatest inspiration (s): Sarah Faith Williams (My daughter/ gift from God given on May 26th, 2009) – Evey individual that has ever shared a positive word of encouragement. I bottle those words up and on days that are not the brightest I revisit that bottle and find my inspirations and motivation to continue.
Worst habits: Busting out into Song in the middle of a conversation
What do people like best about you: My personality and my smile. I am often complemented on these two things. I am a very positive and optimistic individual. I truly believe that as long as you are breathing and your faith is anchored in the right place there is nothing that you cannot achieve if you put your mind and works to it. I believe that anyone and every experience can be used as a source of inspiration.
What community or charitable organizations do you belong to or like to work with? Current member of East Tampa Business and Civic Association, I work with Cyrus Greene Recreations.
Shemida J Vision: I love the community and I view any and all accomplishments as an avenue to give back even if its just in the form of inspiring an individual and placing hope back within the community.
