Defending Korean Professional Golf Association (KPGA) Korean Tour LX Championship champion Seo Yoseop has been disqualified after running out of balls during play.
Seo was unable to continue after finishing the ninth hole during the second round of the tournament at The Heaven Country Club (Par 72) in Daebudo, Ansan-si, Gyeonggi-do, on Jan. 1.
He ran out of balls.
The rules of golf require players to use the same model of ball from the same manufacturer.
If a player runs out of balls, they can borrow from a teammate or have someone fetch them for them, but they shouldn't delay the process.
If a player runs out of balls during a match, it's a good indication that he or she has a lot of lost balls due to bad shots.
In this case, the score tends to snowball, so the player usually chooses to disqualify rather than put in the effort to retrieve the balls.
Seo, who hasn't been playing well lately, shot a 3-over-par 75 in the first round and was down three shots by the eighth hole.
After starting on the 10th hole and recording two double bogeys and one birdie, Seo hit three consecutive tee shots into the OB zone before hitting his fourth into the fairway on the 18th (par-5). It was his seventh in a row, including three bogeys.
His eighth shot also went into the OB area on the right side of the fairway, and he lost four balls on the 18th hole alone, running out of balls before he could make a hole in one.
"It was tough because there were so many OBs," Seo said.
Seo's two title defenses this year ended in missed cuts and disqualifications. 토토사이트
