Alex Christie is an accomplished singer-songwriter based out of Charlotte, NC. Just now starting to make her mark on the touring circuit, Alex Christie is expanding her fan base with each new venue she performs at. Her live shows are electric and she connects very well with the crowd.
Alex Christie was born and raised in Asheboro, NC and started playing music when she was sixteen. She broke her leg in cheerleading, and decided to start playing guitar instead. She developed her own unique style which she describes as “laid back vibes with beach inspired lyrics.” Upon moving to Charlotte, NC Alex made a bold choice and decided to pursue music full time. Since then she has performed extensively at numerous venues throughout the East Coast.
Picking up the guitar at a young age, Alex knew that music would play a significant part in her life. After graduating from The Art Institute of Charlotte, Alex moved to Wilmington, NC where she became inspired and wrote her most requested songs ,"Lazy Day" and "Must Be Dreaming". She has spent the last few years perfecting her craft as a songwriter, while at the same time touring and perfecting her craft as a life performer. She makes it a point to make sure you leave each show taking something special away.
Understanding that the music business is constantly evolving, Alex makes it a point to be heard not only on the touring markets, but over social media as well. She carries herself professionally as she more than happily accepted the fact that the more success she has the more she inspires other people to want to achieve their dreams as well.

ASHEBORO, NC — Alex Christie has a heart for music, but recently she had the opportunity to do a little acting, too.
Christie, who grew up in Asheboro, has been writing and playing songs since she was a teenager, and has developed her own unique style which she describes as “laid back vibes with beach influenced lyrics.”
She moved to Charlotte shortly after graduation in 2009, making the decision to pursue music full time. Since then she has performed extensively at numerous venues throughout the state.
“I moved to Charlotte that summer of 2009 to go to the Art Institute of Charlotte where I got my associate degree in Graphic Design, while still writing and performing and making my debut into the music industry,” Christie said. “I moved to Wilmington for a year to get inspiration from the beach, then moved back to Charlotte and now I play all over the city.
My style of music is very laid back with beach inspired lyrics. I’m compared to Colbie Caillat, Jack Johnson, etc.
“I have some folk background growing up with a very musically inclined family from the country and that definitely shows in my music.”
While recently playing in New Jersey, Christie was approached by a director of the TV series “Royal Pains,” asking if she would like to be an extra in an upcoming episode. “Royal Pains” is a USA Network television series based in part on actual concierge medicine practices of independent doctors and companies.
“ ‘Royal Pains’ was such an awesome experience,” Christie said. “With only two hours of sleep (because I played a show the night before in Newark), we worked for 13 hours that day. A lot of waiting around, but we were fed very well all day and I met some amazing people that are artists and actors. They did about 20 takes for each mini scene. Honestly, longest day of my life! Funny story … me and my tour manager and boyfriend, Ben Nied, got on the wrong bus at the end of the day to go back to the set. And we got to meet all of the main actors! It was like it happened for a reason!
“It’s my first time ever doing something like that, so it was so amazing to see how television works.”
Christie’s debut EP, “Must Be Dreaming,” will be out in August on iTunes. She is currently touring the East Coast, with stops in New Jersey, New York, historic Coney Island, Nashville and on to Myrtle Beach, where she will open for the Capitol Records recording artist, Corey Smith. After that the tour continues in Florida, before then making her way into the college and festival circuits in August.
“I don’t see myself being an actress, but my management is looking into getting my music played on shows and movies,” she added. “Now that is something I’m very excited about! That’s like every songwriter’s dream!

NEWARK, NJ-Singer, songwriter, and guitarist Alex Christie brought her guitar, her boyfriend, and her unique brand of “acoustic, alternative folk with beach-inspired lyrics” from North Carolina to Newark’s Taste Venue (formerly Loft47) this past Tuesday. Alex will be playing at 27Mix tonight. In the video below, Alex says this is her first tour, and talks about how arriving in Newark from a small town was both an overwhelming and a welcoming experience. “Everyone in Newark said it’s an awesome venue,” she said, referring to Taste. “I feel so lucky to be here,” she continued.Discussing her music in greater detail, she said she’s often compared to Colbie Calliat and Jack Johnson, and that she often plays James Taylor and Peter Frampton when she chooses to perform covers. But she mostly likes to perform her own music. Christie started singing in church, where her father was choir director, and really got into music when she broke her leg at age 16, and taught herself to play Sixpence None the Richer’s 1990s hit “Kiss Me” on her guitar while she was immobile. She wrote her first song shortly thereafter, and said she realized then that music was “a true talent.”Her advice to independent artists? “Just don’t give up. Some people won’t even call me back, but I call them back,” she said, describing the process of trying to book as many shows in as many venues as possible. Alex’s tour will take her to Nashville after she leaves the Northeast.
