- Timothy Jones, Jr. was born and raised in Washington D.C. where his interest and love for the drums was evident before birth. It was stated by his parents that he would leap in his mother’s womb when the drums where played at church. On May 16, 1985, Timothy entered the world and his father introduced him to the music language of drums. At 18 months old, he received his first drum set, which was from Toys “R” Us with paper drum heads. Needless to say that drum set was no match for the young rambunctious drummer who played it everyday. Later Tim’s father purchased him his first professional drum set. Just like the paper drum set; he played this drum set every day. Timothy attended Ballou High School where he played the snare drum for the marching band. From here is where the opportunities tarted to open up more him to play drums on the local music scene. Timothy is currently the Music Director at Temple of Praise where he has served for 18 years. In his commitment to his craft, Timothy continues to educate himself musically and professionally learning not only his parts, but all of the instrumentation of each song that he introduces. Having a strong Gospel music background has afforded Timothy the opportunity of performing with some of todays top Gospel recording artist as well as local artists. Timothy believes the key to an excellent drummer is a solid pocket, and knowing the correct placement for fills to enhance musical situations to allow the music to be heard as one instrument.
