From the beginning all I wanted to do was make music, but my life was predestined to take many twists and turns that would make my dreams nearly impossible.
On February 17,2003, I found myself being "Wanted" for a homicide. I eventually ended up taking a plea-deal,reducing my first-degree murder charge to involuntary-manslaughter, and received a 10-10 and a day sentence. During my incarceration I'd go through numerous stages to change my life, and turn this negative situation into a positive one.
In particular, what would effect me deeply was reading Malcolm X's autobiography. Which I read when I was informed that Malcolm made his own spiritual transformation, in the very same prison I was to serve my 10 year sentence - MCI Norfolk, in Norfolk,MA.This furthered my desire to turn my life around and continue to pursue my dream of being a rap star.
I took advantage of the music program that was offered at MCI Norfolk. It was here that I worked on my craft, and prepared myself to continue my dream of making music. Due to this music program I not only honed my writing skills, but also my production, and live performance skills. This lead me to crafting over 1,000 songs, and having my musical abilities compared to Nas and my work ethic compared to the late great Tupac Shakur.
It wasn't until the death of my musical hero, Michael Jackson, that I knew which direction I wanted to take my music in. After seeing the world mourn the loss of this musical genius, I knew I had to influence and inspire for good with my music. I acknowledge that I was given this story for a reason, and that it is now time that the world hears the music that represents this story. My story. A story about a dream, resilience, and inner-transformation.
