DAVID W. JACKSON
Raised in the streets of Watts, California where at an early age he was introduced into the lifestyle of L.A. gangs. David knows first hand the mindset of most young African American males growing up in poverty, gangs, drugs and violent infested neighborhoods where there seems to be no way out.
Raised in a single parent household, David learned early on how to take care of himself and cope with the social ills of his community through his love for music. David was fortunate enough to be saved from the results of gang involvement by a young up and coming pastor.
Unfortunately, years later David's experience in the church led by his pastor/father figure would come to a tragic end, when a series of circumstances led to the tragic death of the pastors daughter. This story hit TIME Magazine as well as an appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show.
As a result, a national scandal arose which targeted the pastor as an alleged cult leader. David's mother was incarcerated as a result of that, his 3 children taken from him and placed into foster care, he was left homeless, and the once father figure and spiritual mentor in his life was mysteriously found dead.
David rose above his circumstances and dedicated himself to breaking the cycle of crime, depression, hopelessness and despair that many youth & adults face, by sharing his story of triumph over tragedy, and mentoring, and counseling across the country. David is considered one of the most influential community figures in the Pacific Northwest for his dedication to adding value to the lives of everyone he meets. David took himself from homelessness and emotionally and spiritually broken, to being an inspiration to his generation and more. His recent battle with cancer which as a result of the surgery, left him mostly blind and with the loss of use in his doinate right arm/hand, hasn't stopped him from pouring into the lives of many who are watching his overcoming of his obstacles.
